Taxes & bookkeeping for OnlyFans creators
Cookie is built differently: a financial platform backed by a real human team of accountants who work with adult creators every day, keep your business private, and know exactly how this business runs.
Why generalist accountants fall short for adult creators
Your OnlyFans work is real work. You need a CPA that understands your income is real income.
You’re running a business that involves brand deals, subscriptions, tips, custom content, and it all comes with real tax obligations.
Most accountants either don’t respect what you do or don’t understand it well enough to save you money. Traditional CPAs weren’t built for creator income. That gap can cost you money.
- They don’t speak the language. AdSense, brand sponsorships, PPV, tips, subscription tiers: if your accountant needs you to explain these to them (instead of the other way around), you’re probably losing write-offs.
- They can’t scale with you. A solo bookkeeper works fine at $30K a year. At $150K, you need real infrastructure: quarterly tax planning, entity structuring, payroll setup.
Cookie combines creator-specific technology with a human team of expert accountants, so nothing falls through the cracks. Also, your 1099 won’t raise eyebrows.

Let us help you grow your business
I’ve been with Cookie since 2022, and as an adult content creator, finding people who treat my career with genuine respect and without judgment has been invaluable. When life turned upside down and I found myself overwhelmed by the financial side of my business, Cookie was there with patience, kindness, and guidance. They take an enormous weight off my shoulders, giving me the freedom to focus on creating. I came to them because I needed someone to take care of my business. What I found were people who genuinely cared about the person behind it 🖤

Taxes for OnlyFans and adult creators
Yes. Every dollar you earn on OnlyFans is taxable, including subscriptions, tips, and pay-per-view content. There’s no minimum threshold that exempts you from reporting it.
No. OnlyFans doesn’t withhold taxes. You’ll get a 1099-NEC if you earn $2,000 or more in a year, but you owe taxes on your income either way.
No. You’re required to report all your income whether or not you receive a 1099-NEC. OnlyFans typically issues one if you earn $2,000 or more in a calendar year, but the income is taxable either way.
A good rule of thumb is 25-30% of your gross income, to cover federal income tax, state income tax, and the 15.3% self-employment tax.
Common deductions include camera equipment, lighting, editing software, a portion of your home office costs, costumes and props used exclusively for content, marketing spend, and some travel expenses. A creator-specific accountant can help you find write-offs a generalist would miss.
Not necessarily, and it depends on your income and goals. Once you’re consistently earning well into six figures, an S Corp election can reduce your self-employment tax. This is worth a conversation with an accountant who understands creator income specifically.
OnlyFans asks for a W-9 so it can report your earnings to the IRS. You’ll fill it out as a sole proprietor unless you’ve set up an LLC or S Corp. If you have, use your entity name and EIN instead. Use your legal name, not your creator name. If the form keeps getting rejected, it’s frequently due to a mismatch between the name and SSN you entered and what the IRS has on file. If that doesn’t seem to be the case, contact your Cookie team to get help.
No. OnlyFans doesn’t issue W-2s because you’re not an employee. You’re self-employed. You’ll receive a 1099-NEC if you earn $2,000 or more in a year, and either way, you’re responsible for reporting the income and paying tax on it.
Not to get started. As a sole proprietor, you can use your Social Security number instead. An EIN is a free business tax ID from the IRS, and there are two good reasons to get one: it keeps your SSN off paperwork, and you’ll need it once you form an LLC or elect S Corp status. One more thing worth knowing: OnlyFans has its own EIN as the payer. That’s separate from yours, so it’s not something you need to track down.
Your OnlyFans income has to be reported, but the platform name isn’t stamped across your return. Income goes on a Schedule C under your business activity, and you choose how that business is described. You’ll need to use your legal name and a real address on tax forms, though plenty of creators use a business address or registered agent rather than their home. What you can’t do is leave the income off. The 1099-NEC goes to the IRS as well as to you.
Generalist accountants often don’t understand platform-specific income like PPV or subscription tiers, and some aren’t comfortable working with adult content businesses at all. Cookie’s team works with adult creators every day, so you get accurate advice, complete privacy, and zero judgment.
Cookie combines creator-specific technology with a real team of expert accountants.
